It’s widely known that Ford Bronco owners are typically off-road enthusiasts, who look for any moment they can get to take to the trail. But how does the Bronco compare to the upcoming 2025 Volkswagen Scout? We took a look at these two SUVs below!
Key Takeaways:
- The Volkswagen Scout EV will not make it to showrooms until 2027. The Bronco is set to make its debut in early 2025.
- The Scout will be priced in the $60k range—the 2025 Ford Bronco is expected to be priced between $37,000 and $57,000.
- The Bronco has already proven itself on trail, and its rugged upgrades are set to further solidify its reputation.
Is the 2025 Ford Bronco a Better Price Than the Volkswagen Scout EV?
It’s going to be a while before the Volkswagen Scout EV makes its way off the assembly line, but we do know that it will be priced at about $60,000 when it does. That’s a price not everyone will be able to afford, but those who can should expect all the Volkswagen bells and whistles in a high-powered, trail-ready experience.
The Bronco, as of this writing, is set for an early 2025 bow—and starts at just $37,995! For buyers on a budget, the Bronco is a very affordable off-roading option. Adventures on the trail are just within reach!
Comparing the Ford Bronco and Volkswagen Scout EV for off-road enthusiasts
Speaking of traversing the terrain, the Bronco has always had a reputation for roughing it like few other SUVs. The line offers a wide range of trim models and performance upgrades, such as the Sasquatch Package, which includes trail performance features like mud-terrain tires, electronically locking front and rear axles, and an extra suspension lift. If you need a real beast and trusted companion on your journey, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better one.
Once again, we do not yet know how the Scout will take to rugged terrain. But we do know it will ride on a body-on-frame chassis and come standard with front and locking differentials, 35-inch tires, and a disconnecting sway bar for what we believe will be hard-to-top off-road performance.
How Fast is the 2025 Volkswagen Scout EV?
The Scout EV’s powertrain speed supposedly tops that of the Bronco. According to the automaker, it will travel 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds, thanks to an estimated 1,000 pound-feet of instant torque, while Car and Driver states that the fastest version of the Bronco currently goes from 0 to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds.
The Bronco’s engines remain the same as those on current models. A turbocharged 2.3-liter I-4 engine delivering 275 ponies and 300 lb-ft of torque is standard to the base model when using regular gas; however, you can bring those numbers up to 300 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque on high octane. This engine is paired with 7-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive.
The Bronco also features a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6, cranking out 315 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque on regular gas for higher trims. Once again, when you use premium you can shift those numbers higher to 330 horsepower and 415 lb-ft torque. This engine is paired only with automatic transmission.
Does the 2025 Ford Bronco Offer a Nice Interior?
From what we’ve seen thus far, the interior of the Volkswagen Scout astutely combines comfort and luxury with a slightly retro touch. It pays homage to 70s-era style while keeping an eye on the present, thanks to its wood trim, tan leather seating, and what we expect will be top tech features, like a digital gauge display and an expansive central touchscreen.
But the 2025 Ford Bronco also gives you a mix of these elements in a wide range of options. Looking for something sporty? The Bronco Raptor’s Code Orange trim with leather seats has you covered. The Outer Banks speaks more to urban luxury, while the Stroppe Edition, with its two-tone theme of Oxford White and Code Orange recalls a not-too-distant past.
Is the 2025 Ford Bronco Right For You?
The upcoming Volkswagen Scout EV will no doubt combine luxury with rugged adventure, but when it comes to a solid reputation for off-road performance, the 2025 Ford Bronco will likely retain the crown the non-hybrid version has earned. Ford’s adventurous SUV is also the best option in terms of pricing. Contact us at Banner Ford for a test drive!
